Pregnant Women & New Mothers:
Anxiety & Depression can be Safely Treated

Your mental and emotional health while you are pregnant and after the baby is born can be complicated. While our society paints a picture of parents idyllically   welcoming a new birth in the family, reality can be much more difficult, for moms as well as dads.

Challenges during these times include:
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Panic disorder
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Psychosis
Together, these are referred to as "perinatal mood disorders." Sadly, less than half of mothers with symptoms seek treatment. Lack of treatment can result in severe emotional problems in both mothers and children.  Fathers, too, can be affected.  As many as 24-50% of men whose partners experience perinatal mood disorders fall prey to depression during the first year postpartum.

I work passionately to support women and families experiencing issues with pregnancy, postpartum, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), and parenting stress.

If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, or other symptoms, I encourage you to call for help. I am specially trained in working with women with perinatal mood disorders, and am certified in Maternal Mental Health by Postpartum Support International.
